Brighton taxi fares and tips

Finding a taxi in Brighton

Brighton has two types of taxis; licensed Hackney Carriages and Private Hire cars.

The Hackney taxis are white and aqua coloured, and are available at taxi stands and can be flagged in the street. The Private Hire taxis, on the other hand, can only be booked in advance and won't pick up customers on the sidewalk. Private taxis can be recognized on the green plate on the back of the car.

The largest taxi stands are outside Brighton train station and at East street.

General taxi fares in Brighton

The Brighton taxi fares are regulated, and most private taxi companies also charge the same prices. The starting fare is £2.60, the first mile is £3.80, with £2.20 for each subsequent mile.
